
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British artist, singer, actress and activist. Born and raised in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she attended The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis received national recognition in the final series of The X Factor in 2006 and was awarded the PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. The winning single, which was which was a cover song by Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" reached the top spot for 4 weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke a world record by reaching 50k digital downloads in 30 minutes. Clive Davis's label J Records, signed Lewis to a deal for five albums in February 2007. Lewis kept her momentum going with Spirit which was her debut studio album. The album was platinum 10x certified in the UK. Spirit became the fourth most-sold album in 2000s, and also among the most-sold UK albums. Spirit was, according to Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female singer. The lead track "Bleeding Love" that lasted seven weeks on in the Top 10 of UK charts, was the top-selling single of the year 2007. The track was also the top-selling single in the US that year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award next year. Echo is her second studio album. She also wrote the hit song "I Love You" on behalf of Avatar. Lewis's song "Collide" is co-written by Swedish DJ Avicii and also she released Hurt The EP, her first long-form play. Glassheart (2012) is Lewis the release of her the third album of her studio. It's an intriguing new trend. Lewis draws inspiration from dubstep , as well as electronic music. She began to record material for her Christmas debut album during her Glassheart Tour, which took during the middle of 2013. Christmas with Love was released later that year. The album's first single, "One More Sleep" came in at the third position within the UK. The chart's top position was what made Lewis the first British independent female musician to achieve the top fivespots with eight singles. The singer also broke Olivia Newton-John's seven record.
